Won’t you be my Neighbor? – Luke 10:25-37

June 30, 2024

“The Bible tells us to love our neighbors, and also to love our enemies; probably because generally they are the same people” – G.K. Chesterton, Illustrated London News (16 July 1910).  As followers of Jesus we are called to be people who are distinguished by the way we love.  Acts of love to all around us are proof that our love of God is genuine.  After all, they will know we are Christians not by our great acts of piety to God, but by our acts of love to one another (John 13:35)  If we love God with all our heart, and all our soul, and all our strength, and all our mind, then we will not ask the exclusionary question, “who is my neighbor?”  Instead, we will seek to be a neighbor.
