At the gate called Beautiful, Peter and John dare to act in faith, and heal a man born lame. Their healing brings a powerful example and testimony to the grace of God found in Jesus Christ. This leads to a massing of a crowd, who are motivated by this wonderful deed. Then Peter defends Jesus and declares him as Lord and God. He encourages them by saying they did not really know what they were doing. But now they have the opportunity to respond. Peter is clear, the encounter with Jesus demands a response, because this is God’s revelation of his Messiah, and choosing him or not choosing him makes all the difference in the world.
