Jesus has come to bring peace and will leave a peace that passes understanding for his disciples. Every time the resurrected Lord meets them, he says, “Peace be with you”. In our passage this morning, Zechariah sings a song about the work of his son and the coming Messiah, that he will guide them into the pathway of peace. The world itself does not allow peace to rest upon it – it seems to continually echo Romans, groaning under sin until the Lord is revealed. In the season, may our Lord grant us true peace in or hearts and minds that only He has to give, and may we be blessed to contribute to the peace that transcends all obstacles with the joy of heaven.
