Do you achieve your heavenly reward by putting more weight in your favor on the scales of judgement? Or do you enter into heaven by God’s grace and grace alone? Does Abraham play the role of ancestor of a bloodline? Or does he blaze a new kind of trail. This view is, in fact, embedded in Scripture from the very beginning. You have an unavoidable fact, you live by faith and not by a family lineage. You depend on God’s grace and deliverance to provide you with eternal life, to establish for yourself a place in heaven. And His grace and deliverance are provided for us in the person and work of Jesus Christ alone.
