Living Where You Do Not Lock Your Doors – Genesis 14:5-12 and Ephesians 4:25-28

August 25, 2024

In the commandment, you shall not steal, we are seeking a society in which we are never envious, and we are always carefree.  Crime can strike us at any moment.  But we are seeking a place where it is much less present.  We have a duty to protect our personal belongings.  We must guard against fraud and corruption and invasion.  We set up a proper defense and then ask the government to ensure that anti-theft measures are effective.  We also do not leave any temptation in anyone’s path.  Above all else, the rule of gratitude contained in this commandment is to be so grateful and content for what the Lord provides you that you always work to guard and protect what others have.
