In the seventh commandment, you shall not commit adultery, is the meaning of the word fidelity or faithfulness. Here is a most marvelous promise made, when 2 people get married, and they promise each other to have and hold until death do you part. This is the biggest pothole; this is the way for that to be demolished and broken in pieces. Once you have pledged your fidelity in marriage, will there be opportunity to break this vow? You bet there will. So, the commandment is there as a fence you are not to cross, the guardrail to keep you on the right road. This represents most closely the faithfulness of God in all his splendor and might.
