Righteousness is very simple. Just do the right thing. But that is easier said than done. There is the problem of being hard-hearted and stiff-necked people. We do not want to entertain the negative comparison of our shame versus God’s worthiness. We either accept God’s beautiful and perfect righteousness and come to him with our need or invent our own system to allow us to totally ignore that calling and follow what feels right for ourselves. Yielding to the Lord, inspired by his call, comes from being humble and responding to His love.
