God has been in the business of providing hope to his people. He has promised them a time to come when they will receive things they did not work for, because all of the work they did as slaves was totally in vain — it brought them nothing. that is the nature of slavery. So, we visit Moses at his last moment, living hope that the people he has led will make it in the land they are about to enter. He had to leave it with his Lord. Advent is about patient hope, trusting God until the end of the journey, knowing that he holds our future, which will be in his presence, in his hands.
