In prophecy you see something that will come true, you see a word from the Lord on the state of our human existence, and we seek to gain wisdom from how it is fulfilled. In this case, the prophet is “seeing” with spiritual eyes the event of Jesus suffering and dying for our sins on the cross. There can be no doubt about this, it is not an abstraction of the idea, but it is real and it is personal for you and for me. Do not turn your back on this.
