What Ecclesiastes helps us do is allow us to mourn the condition of life in a fallen world. We want the ideal to be true, we want heaven to come to earth, we want to be in paradise. But it does not come easily. As the writer says, it is like chasing after the wind, you cannot catch it and the moments of joy and triumph in our world seem so fleeting, like a fog burned away by the sun. Yet, our truth is to seek the wisdom of God, and this begins by learning to honor the Lord, as the Lord’s Prayer says, “Hallowed be thy name”.
