Jesus set himself to endure the crucifixion because he knew that God held his life in his hands. There was power to lay it down and power to take it up. Death could not keep its grip on him. He knew that he was doing what was necessary to redeem us from under the curses of sin and death. These 2 sad and bleak realities are unavoidable for us as human beings. But his work there on the cross is complete. Sin has no power and death holds no fear for us based on our Christian faith. Living with those 2 realities gives us freedom to flourish in being Christlike and bring glory to God in all we do and say.
