In today’s passage Peter tells his readers that he has a burden to tell them about needing to grow in faith since he is sure that he does not have much time left on earth. He then gives them two good reasons why they should trust the message preached to them by the apostles. 1) Peter was an eyewitness. The things he told them were first-hand accounts, not passed down through many hands. 2) What the prophets of the Old Testaments wrote, confirms the message about Jesus. Their message is a light for us and what they wrote was directed by the Spirit of God.
