Peter gets up to preach to the household of Cornelius the centurion. He knows that he has crossed a barrier that had caused him anxiety and inner conflict. To cross it could make you liable to God’s judgment. So, this is a profound statement that God shows no favoritism to one person or another person but is asking Peter to share the Good News with all. He speaks about the anointing of the Holy Spirit on the ministry of Jesus, and also knows that the Holy Spirit has arranged for him to be there. When the Holy Spirit falls on Cornelius and his family, it is the fulfillment of what God began to do at Pentecost.
