There will be false teachers, just as there were false prophets in the past. In this chapter, Peter does not go into details about their doctrines, but points to the extravagant, impure lifestyle they promote, ruining the lives of others. Judgement will come on them. Peter’s examples from the Old Testament shows that God’s judgement is fair – He does not punish the just with the unjust.
