Peter preaches the resurrection. He is convinced and I am sure taught by the Savior himself that Jesus is the authentic Messiah, attested to by his divine works of power and by the most convincing thing of all–he did not see decay nor was his body left for dead. Because of his divine nature and his righteous purpose, he is the perfect sacrifice for sin. Nothing you can bring could equal to that. Now, I am going to preach a Reformation sermon for you today. there is a unity and a disunity with Roman Catholic doctrine. I agree on creation. I agree on the nature of God, I agree with them on infant baptism. But I do not agree with them on purgatory, which seems to me demeans the meaning and power of “by faith” you are saved, not “by works”.
