This is a series in the Gospel of John. This series focuses on symbolism. We have various things we are very familiar with, such as light, water and bread, among many others. And to help us understand who our Savior is and what God is up to in our world today. Today I am going to explore the fact that Jesus said, “I am the good Shepherd”. If you go back to the Old Testament, the God of Israel is in that true role as the good shepherd of Israel. It is obviously the reason why the Pharisees pick up stones to execute Jesus, because his blaspheming, clearly making himself equal with God. Jesus as the good shepherd shows that he clearly knew himself to be God, which is either true, or crazy or wicked. Which is it?
