God leads the people into the promised land and they need to traverse running waters. He stops the floods and leads them through on dry ground. They are called to take stones from the riverbed and set them up as a memorial of God’s intervention in their journey to a new home of freedom, prosperity and peace. While there would be war ahead, God was promising to ultimately deliver them once for all and for good.
