Today after we celebrate the Lord’s Supper we continue to learn of the early Christian church and find the leaders of the Temple were “filled with jealousy” at their success and growth. They threw the apostles into the public jail, and next morning deliberated what to do about them.  Surprise, they were no longer in jail!  As they “puzzled” about that – Surprise, they’re right there at the Temple teaching about Jesus again!  Their defiance raised possible death sentence until Gamaliel reasoned, ‘if this is of men, it will fail, but if it is of God you will be fighting God.’  The apostles still got a beating and warnings, but rejoiced in suffering and kept proclaiming the Good News of Jesus Christ!
