Luke ends his Gospel and begins ‘Acts’ with the story of the ascension, and for 10 days Jesus’ followers ‘joined together constantly in prayer’ (Acts 1:14). On the 10th day, 50 days after ‘sacrificed lamb day’ at Passover came a surprise to some, God obviously poured out His Holy Spirit on His followers. The sign of it grabbed people’s attention, and Peter used the occasion to preach the Gospel to them. We’ll see what is so important about those events for those who saw and heard it and for us today.
