In Acts 20:13ff we will see his fellow missionaries leave by boat from Troas and Paul leaves Troas by land to meet the others at Assos.  Then a five day boat trip to Miletus involved five different ports, as most sailing was only by day.  Paul sent for the Ephesian elders to say goodbye and give final ‘words of wisdom’ and guidance, which is for us today as it was for the Ephesians then.  They parted with sadness and prayer, as Paul knew they would never see him again after he went to Jerusalem and then to Rome, serving and obeying God in every step.
